Unplugged A/C wires near compressor?

I noticed the other day there are two sets of wires near the A/C compressor while I was cleaning under the hood, and one of them was unplugged! They are each a single wire and connect with semi-transparent green silicone connectors. They come from the compressor (or that general area) and go up towards a sensor or something near the radiator. I haven't had cold A/C and the ACC shows one fault (haven't hooked up to TechII yet), so I figured this may have been the culprit and tried to plug it in. I recalibrated the ACC and it still shows a fault and no cold A/C. What are these wires? Would plugging the one wire back in hurt/help anything? There's freon in the system (Lo side pressure is OK), but still not sure what's not functioning properly?
Summers in Florida can get a bit warm and having a working aircon would be nice :-)
