go to an indy and spend less $$ Posted by Gregg [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: SRS Dash Light, Long Island Herman, Tue, 11 May 2004 11:06:50 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I've got the same light on now for about the last 6 mos. I'm planning on taking it to my local indy and while I'm in for an alignment ask him to reset the code.
This is my third trip to either the indy or the dealer. Neither of them has been able to pin-point a problem and they've each ended up reseting the code at no cost to me on at least two occasions.
As a heads up, though, the dealer has told me that it is a faulty light bulb ($14 part + 2 hrs labor) (twice), low start-up amps in the battery, and when all else fails a new SRS module ($750 part). If you go the light bulb route, which I did initially, I had them remove the Shift-Up light while they were in there.
I'm convinced that because I drive short distances that the battery theory is the most plausable reason for the light.
If you are feeling adventurous pull the dash apart and check for a faulty ground or some rubbing wire somewhere. Last time I went to the dealer this is what they told me they would do. I didn't feel like opening up my bank account to them at that point. But, I also haven't had the downtime to tackle this myself.
I haven't found anyway to DIY this problem.
There hasn't been any real advice in the post other than what I've done in the same situation.
Good Luck.
