Using the search feature, I have checked for instances of blowing power steering fluid in the 96 900SE 4cyl turbo. On three occasions now, I have encountered a problem where my Saab has blown power steering fluid in the vicinity of the serpentine belt with no obvious indication of source. I will mention that I was revving the engine pretty high through third gear in two of the three instances (off the line through third, but didn't get into red zone on boost gauge). The result has been an oil reservoir's worth of steering fluid all over the pulley side of the engine and on the exhaust, accompanied by lots of smoke. On the third occurance, just yesterday, I noticed that the underhood temp was quite high. Could this be a contributing factor? I'm suspecting an intermittent leak in the high pressure pump hose possibly related to engine temp. I notice a type of relief device in the dischrge side of the pump housing. Could oil be relieved from here under high pressure associated with high revs? The car has 60,000 miles. Any thoughts on this phenomenon?
