Hi all.
My car has experienced frequent stall at start during last a couple of weeks. Last weekend, engine noised a lot at start up, CEL comes up, engine misfired, and I could see the white fumes at the exhaust. I checked the spark plugs (NGK 7 series) and found all the plugs were fouled with oil.
I searched this board and fouund the source of this oil was the loosened head valve cover bolts. I removed DI and retorque the #40 bolts of the head cover (it WAS loosened), and changed all the plugs with new one.
I started the engine again, did idle fine just a couple of min. After few min, I could see the black fumes and sooty water (not oil) at the exhaust. Also surfer smells. I turned off the power, checkeed the plugs and found it's all black (not fouled by oil, but carbon deposits). My understanding is engine runs too rich.
My car is 96 900SE 2.0 turbo, 85K miles. I recently changed my DI (2K miles ago), fuel filter, thermostat (5K miles ago) and have been using Techron every 3K.
Any suggestion to advise where should I start with this problem will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. JH
