The belt you are referring to is the serpentine (grooved) accessory belt, I assume. If it is as bad as you describe, I'd replace it pronto. It could break at any point leaving you stranded (no alternator, water pump, power steering, or A/C). The clicking could be from the belt or from one of the idler pulleys. Or from one of the "accessories" mentioned above.
More concerning to me: if the belt or clicking noise is coming from the timing belt, you've got a ticking time bomb. Search the archives on 'timing belt' for more info. Basically, the timing belt should have been changed every 30k (35k,65k,95k, and soon 125k). The first 3 would have been covered under warranty and you're responsible for the rest from now on. CRITICAL: the updated belt tensioner and idler pulley should have been installed at one of these intervals. If it was not, you should have it done immediately.
