Could be because they are not in junk yards!
We purchased a new 9-5 Wagon three years ago when our '95 900S had 120K mi. on the clock, thinking that 120K was high miles and the family needed something more reliable. Our 900S now has 167K on the odometer and still runs well, though we have made routine repairs and the front end makes more noise than it did.
It helps to cruise the NG900 board for common issues. Many are easy diy's, and the car may not be the best choice if you are uncomfortable with simple repairs. But if reasonably well maintained there are no serious show stoppers. Ymmv, but I haven't read about many turbo failures on the 900's.
It's a good car that will go the miles, and typically a great deal for the fun and service left in it for the price. After 8 years some folks are in a better financial position, ready for a different car, and don't expect to turn-over a 'high mileage' car for a premium.
Good Luck!
