Wow! I haven't been on this site for awhile and I'm glad its still here!
Anyway just got my '96 900 SE back from the shop about 10 days ago (maintenance and a check engine light) and the radio is starting to wig-out. For no reason at all the sound cuts out and the SID displays "Phone Mute". Usually only for a few seconds. (The manual states that this is a feature for when a mobile phone is hooked to an antenna thru the radio.)
This is the standard Saab radio, tape player, and cd changer (in the trunk.) The radio is the model that doesn't always sense the CD changer when you unhook/rehook the battery, so the service dept. usually has to try several times to get it to work correctly again.
Could the service dept have hooked something up wrong, or is it likely a circuit problem in the radio?
It isn't something as simple as entering a code or pressing a combination of buttons to deactivate it, is it?
Thanks,
Bruce
