Information lights - electrical trouble

Hi - some advice please.
History
'95 900SE. Lot of whine coming from timing belt area. Check with dealer (noticed check engine light intermittant)who says the alternator bearings are shot and the OBD is not picking up any codes...think the sensor is picking up noise from timing belt. Drive for a few more days and then the Information indicator on my dash along with my SRS lights up and stays on. Coincidentally I lose my back speakers. Let the car sit a couple of days while thinking of how to pay the bill. Go out to move it and have a dead battery.
Next Step
Jump car and battery "seems" to be charging but lights on dash (Information, SRS and Check Engine) all remain on. Get it to the mechanic. Finds that the belt tensioner seized and wiped out alternator and water pump. Very $$$ to repair.
Then
Bring home car. Next day battery is dead. no apparent reason. but jump seems to work again. Engine running well but noticed a little hesitation as my check engine light comes on/off
Questions
Do you think the battery has had it and the system is not running properly thus giving me these indicators.
Anyone know if certain wire connectors tend to loosen possibly creating this problem?
Any help/advice would be appreciated.
Regards,
John
