Re: V6--new ignition coil and crank sensor--now what? Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: V6--new ignition coil and crank sensor--now what?, Chris, Sat, 12 Jun 2004 09:44:23 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Ignition switch could still be bad. Just because the starter is turning over the engine doesn't mean that other pin in ignition switch supplies the fuel injection computer with power.
When cranking the car, do you have battery power at fuse 17 and at pin 4 on the ignition coil? It sounds like you do in your description.
You might be facing a bad Motronic ECU that is not triggering the ignition coil properly on pin 1, 2 and 3. The ECU sends a ground signal on those three pins to fire the coil. Which pin it grounds depends on which pair of coils it wants to trigger, cyl 1-4, 2-5 or 3-6.
Don't overlook bad ground wire for the ECU too.
With problems like this it might be better to find a Saab indy that have all the books and tools instead of throwing parts at the car.
It might turn out to be cheaper in the long run.
