Nothing really specific to a T5, just heat transfer.
Exhaust wrap is too thin and designed for high temps more than effectiveness. For most of the system on my 95SET I used the aluminum faced 1/4" thick bubble wrap from the hardware store. It is cheap and works well under the hood, but close to the exhaust manifold, turbine and down pipe, the radiation heat flux will cause it to shrivel up a bit. I wrapped the air box, and throttle body as well as the other locations noted in the other post. I used spring steel paper clamps from the office supply store, get a box of them. You can then remove the insulation for maintenance work or inspection work.
The high temp insulations are designed to survive high temperatures, but are too thin to be a good insulator. They work well by reducing infra red radiation heat transfer. In your case, you are trying to keep heat out of a warm or cool air stream. It is easy to get excited about the high tech high temp thermal wraps, but using them for the intake system is really a mis-application as well as needlessly expensive. It would be better to use them on the exhaust side where the radiation heat flux is coming from, but such will reduce the life of the wrapped components as they will overheat.
With my MBC+pop_off_valve*, Viggen IC, modified TBTC etc, the engine pulled well in 100F heat and never bogged down. It was really sweet!
* This was an step on route to developing the MBC+A. My 95SET was rearended and totalled. After that Jeff took up the torch and worked with the +A concept. This provides the benefits of what I had accomplished with the pop-off valve without the expense and extensive fabrication.
