The 7ES was spec for the first few years until Saab, dealer and drivers figured out that they were running too cold. The 6ES will run hotter and will burn off deposits and not foul up. If your driving profile allows 7ES11 plugs to run clean in the long run, them you can stick with them.
They are pre gapped to 1.1mm, guess what the 11 in the part number is. You need to gap to .035 - .037. The original gap of .039 was poorly specified and was too close to the upper limit. The lower number are in the lower part of the gap range spec and they can erode open from there and remain in spec for a longer service life.
If you have to order against make, year, model, engine... try faking things out with perhaps a 1999 9-3 and see if that lets you pick the right plug. They are out there, and at the dealers etc.
