A bad o2 sensor will cause your stream to run rich. Theoretically, if it goes, you get a check engine light. However, I've heard it has to be really, really bad to get the cel. They're only meant to have a life of 60k miles. If you've never replaced it and you're looking at more than 60k, whether its your main problem or not, it would be a good idea to replace it anyway.
A bosch universal will save you a hundred bucks off the oem.
After all that being said, you have a turbo which means you may not even have an o2 sensor... not really sure. I have an na so I'd have to check on that.
