The hose from the PS tank to the pump is secured with gear type clamps and these get loose enough to leak after the hose settles and releives the clamping pressures. The clamps have to be re-tighened every couple of years, ditto for all the cooling hose clamps and turbo clamps sometimes too. And these should all be retighened when you recieve a new vehicle. But most clamps are now spring clamps on new production and the problem largely does not exist for those. So perhaps that is all there is.
You may have dumped the PS fluid and pumped air throughout to dump even more.
And the alternator pully is very small and perhaps it just cannot work with a serp belt soaked in PS fluid. So I would fit a new belt+ upper idler pully, do the short belt mod and save a bundle and time. Clean the pullies. The grooved ones can be degreased with carb or brake cleaner spray. Wear eye protection. And those solvents can trash paint and plastic eyeglass lenses and frames. Do not allow any to get into the alternator body as it might damage the stator coils etc.
