Power steering pump changed part number with VIN V2008698/7003693 but the quinkydink is that the older part numbers (before those VIN) are superseeded to the newer number.
Steering rack has changed numbers a couple of times and those numbers follow another VIN.
I can't remember seeing a service bulletin saying to update the fluid to newer CHF11S when installing the new pump on older cars???
Another quinkydink is that the VIN numbers when Saab changed fluid in factory doesn't coincide with the change of pump.
Saab 900 My 97 - Ch. No. V2022750-
Saab 9000 My 97 - Ch. No. V1014202-
Saab 900 cab. My 95 - Ch. No. T7003151-
Saab 9-5 My 98 -
So we are still left with a big question mark as to what damage it really could do if any by using the wrong fluid.
15-20 years ago it was a popular beleive that you could ruin the engine by switching over to synthetic engine oil and also that you could never switch back to dino ones you had done it. I guess that was an urban legend too?
It's always good to try to follow all the rules and regulations because the end product ends up to be better by doing it the right way all the way. But sometimes it can be a djungle trying to figure out what's good or not.
