I have never replaced the compressor on a Saab, so I would not be able to tell you the difficulty. But I found this procedure that may be helpful.

To remove

1 Place the car on a lift.
2 Drain the A/C system of refrigerant.
3 Remove the intake manifold for the turbo, if fitted.
4 Remove the multigroove drive belt from the compressor.
5 Unplug the compressor's connector.
6 Remove the high-pressure hose from the compressor. Plug the openings.
7 Remove the low-pressure hose from the compressor. Plug the openings.
8 Cars with a 4-cylinder fuel injection engine.
Remove the compressor retaining bolts and lift up the compressor.
9 Cars with turbo and a V6 engine:
Remove the compressor's two upper retaining bolts.
Raise the car and remove the air shield in front of the wheel housing.
Remove the compressor's lower retaining bolt and lower the compressor under the oil cooler hoses.

To fit

1 Adjust the oil level sin the compressor. See the table in "Compressor Oil - Filling and Adjustments".
2 Cars with a 4-cylinder fuel injection engine:
Refit the compressor and tighten the retaining bolts.
3 Cars with turbo and a V6 engine:
Raise the car and install the compressor. Lift it into position under the oil cooler hoses.
Insert the two upper retaining bolts.
Tighten the compressor's bottom retaining bolt.
Refit the air shield in front of the wheel housing.
Lower the car. Tighten the compressor's two upper retaining bolts.
4 Lubricate two new O-rings with synthetic vase- line. Remove the plugs in the hoses and on the compressor and install the new O-rings.
5 Tighten the high-pressure and low-pressure hoses on the compressor.
Tightening torque: 20 Nm (14.8 lb ft)
6 Plug in the compressor's connector and press it into the holder.
7 Refit the multigroove drive belt.
8 Refit the intake manifold for the turbo, if fitted.
9 Fill up with compressor oil, carry out vacuum pumping of the A/C system and fill up with refrigerant.
