a few years ago my c900 was rearended by a girl in a ford escort who was traveling 30 mph and never even thaght about touching the brakes. i nwas at a complete stop. her car was crushed to the windshield and mine had a cut on the back bumper from where her licence plate hit. i got the bumper cover replaced under her insurance, then i signed off on it thinking that everything was fixed.
2 months down the road my transmission started violently grinding gears. i put the car in storage, where it still is now.
my ex-girlfriend's (he's a master mechanic) dad told me that the engine and transmission were at idol when i was hit. my car accelerated from 0-30 in a fraction of a second so the side of the tranny with the wheels accelerated and the side with the engine did not. that is what caused all of the damage.
since i signed off on it, insurance would not cover it.
My mom baught a brand new 1996 saturn. three months later it was rearended. after getting the car back from the body shop, and driving it for about a month. she heard a metalic noise and lost 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears. you should see a saturn try to start off in 4th gear, it was pretty funny.
i wish you luck
