Ignition switch definitely sounds likely, not for the hot weather symptom, but for the hot and cold trouble and for the other ignition switch behavior you describe (2-3 times before power goes...). The switch is a common item / known issue on the earlier NG 900.

I was having some hot weather, hot engine start trouble recently that seems to have been reduced if not cured by running some Techron concentrate through to clean the injectors. A check of my service records showed it had been over 30k since that was last done.
