Rotors set screw

I can see the convenience of the set screw on the rotors when installing a new one and for removing the wheels but come replacing them, they were pretty seized in there. I eventually drilled the head off and tried to extract the the remains with a bolt extractor, (just like I did recently on my alternator bolt) but they would not come out on any of the four so I drilled them out completely.
Since I replaced all brake components: shoes, pads, rotors, and drum on my sister's '95 Corolla without having to deal with set screws, I figured it would be fine to leave them off of the 4 new rotors.
Please correct me if I'm wrong to do this.
Thanks.
