So I'd been trying to remove my selector shaft seal on the manual tranny without success, using all manner of instruments to try and pry it out. I finally was able to do it using a small screwdriver - I filed down the tip so it was very thin and pointed and was able to shove it in between the seal and tranny and twisted it to deform the seal.

The problem is, all of my fumbled attempts using picks and corkscrews you name it, left some scratches on the selector shaft. So I know it will start leaking again soon - it's just a matter of time.

How much do you think it would cost to have the seal, bushing (for good measure) and the selector shaft replaced once I get the tranny off? Is it possible to install a new selector shaft and bushing myself? Or is this something I should just leave to the pros?
