1995 900SE Conv. 2.3 turbo 132,000 miles 30,000 on new engine.
Here we go again! I was trying to find parking here in Pacific Beach, San Diego, CA when all of a sudden the engine started choking really bad and the car jerked trying to stay alive. I immediately parked it and turned it off because it was idling really, really ruff, never seen anything like it before.
I turned it on after a minute but still the engine was struggling to stay alive. It almost seemed like it was running on one cylinder. Repeated this same procedure a few more times and it just kept getting worse. I then decided to just let it rest and try again after a couple of hours.
Returned a couple of hours later but this time the engine just tured over and over and never turned on. Did this a few times until I nearly killed the battery.
Thought it could be low on gas but I put 2 gallons in an almost empty tank but still no luck. Just turns over and over.
Interesting thing to note is that when I turn the ignition to ON to see the gauges and lights, the fuel gauge shows a 1/4 tank when I know it doesn't have that much gas in it.
When the car first died all gauges were normal and no lights were on except the CEL which has been on for over 9 months.
I checked the fuses and all were good even the one for the fuel pump (#32).
No banana in the tail pipe.
I think the CEL light flashed 7 times, which according to the haynes manual is an ADAPTATION error.
What does ADAPTATION ERROR mean???
Could it be the DI cassette.
How can I check if it is getting fuel?
Can I check a schrader valve on the fuel line somewhere?
Where should I bang on the fuel tank to see if it is fuel pump.
So which is it, a crankshaft or camshaft sensor I should be checking on this TURBO model.
How do you determine if the DI cassette is bad? (smell? appearance? once taken off of course)
Well, that is all I can think of for now!
Please, please advise!
