With due respect to Anders, who is a Godsend to this board, my own OPINION is that the V6 cannot be trusted to live. I speak from personal experience only. I have had 2, a 94 and a 95. Both were well within belt service intervals when the front bank cam sprokets loosened, causing catastrophic failure. $1500. to fix the 94, the 95 just happened so who the heck knows. I also know personally of 2 with very low miles that had the crank sprocket key shear, causing total top-end destruction. What Anders recommends will surely help the situation, and I have no way of knowing if my cars got this attention; I can only say I have complete faith in both my indie who did the 94 t-belt service and the Saab dealer who did the 95. The V6 is simply a very poorly designed engine, thank you GM. I'll stick with 4 cylinder SAAB engines, which are great. Meanwhile if I knew of a class-action lawsuit against Saab for these lousy V6 engines I'd sign on in a heartbeat!
