Two points - one is that under the hood, near the grill, on the "frame" there is a listing of how much pressure should be "in" the AC system - think it may be 35 PSI measured on the low-side.

Other is that the AC should/would most likely need to be flushed.

Most, which is probably why you have yet to receive many responses, would indicate that one should leave the AC job to the pros (one of the few systems). While the system is disconnected/open for only a few minutes, "contamination" can occur (read this in a recent post), which is why it is to be left to the pros.

I was thinking, perhaps I could go to one of the "AC shops" to have them do a flush and fill, but only complete the flush, go home and do the work (I know I need to replace at least both of the lines, but may also be the evaporator), and return for the fill. Just a thought.
