A MBC+A works much better....
There is no risk of overload damage as the boost is still limited by the ECU through its fuel cut function. As for the loads, you will be at boost levels less than Viggens and modified ECU's, which the engines do very well with. No gear box issues either. Clutch gear stands up very well, however, note that some folks wear out clutches with stock systems, often from poor technique. A worn out clutch will slip, mods or not.
The MBC or MBC+A takes the BPC out of the system and the ECU cannot reduce boost anymore. Some will cite this as a fatal flaw. However, MBC installs have proven to be safe over years of use. The ECU will only reduce boost if it senses knocking conditions that it cannot control with timing and miture changes. If it were not able to do that, then there would be no way that modifed ECUs could run at even higher pressures. With an MBC install, the ECU does avoid knock with the boost forced to higher levels.
One needs to be aware of things that need to be done. High octane fuel must be used, better lubricants, plugs and injectors well maintained, low restriction intake and exhaust. A better IC will also help control intake air temperatures. One really should never install a MBC on a stock system. So while the MBC itself is very expensive, one needs to pay more attention to preventative maintenance and spend some money on a Sports exhaust system, and do the DIY mods.
Cracked pistons on some 250HP 2.3L engines: There is some evidence that such problems are caused to some extent by excessive intake temperatures from the IC's not been up to the demands. This does seem to be a temperature issues that the trionic does not seem able to manage. The damage is thought to be combo of piston temp and extreme combustion pressures, perhaps getting into knocking of some sort. There is some suspicion that known issues with the PCV allowed oil mist to get into the intake stream which could lower effective octane. None of these involve a MBC and these T7 systems cannot be use a MBC. The operating conditions are well above what is going on with a 2.0L + MBC.
