I have always wondered about that. The pictures always show the valve nicely up and down. Maybe the orientation is not too important as long as you can get at the valve lever.
The only solution that I can see is spacers, but they might leak. The teflon washer will be compressable, depends on how it feels. And the teflon will stress releave with the heat. So I would install with a sealant or thread lock as well if I was doing it.
A jamb nut would allow for getting the right position, but the thread length would have to be evaluated. And the jamb nut would create a leak path that would bypass the seal washer.
I do not trust plastic or composite seal washers as they extrude and things get loose. So it really needs to be a hard metal to metal contact and needs sealant or thread lock. A nifty valve is great to have, but not if it falls out on the road and you dump lube and damage the engine.
