Greetings All -

This car has been sitting a bit over the winter, and I've only recently started driving it again. Apparently a few problems have popped up.

Fuel was running rich and engine was choking/shuddering under normal driving conditions. Changed out the O2 sensors yesterday and the fuel mix issue cleaned up, but the engine is still running very rough and with a drastic performance loss.

Pulled the plugs (only about 8 months old) and cleaned them up, found the #3 plug to be blackened, but no signs of cross-firing anywhere. After replacing the cleaned plugs the car runs a bit smoother, but still shows the above symptoms, and now the check engine light flashes neurotically during anything other than the gentlest of acceleration. Ran this info by a friend of mine who's a car wiz, and he suggested that the plug is misfiring, which could be causing my troubles.

Has anyone else run into a similar problem, or could steer me in the right direction?

I am mechanically/electronically inclined, but I have only recently started working on cars (other than installing sound systems). I certainly don't mind spending a weekend under the hood, and I'd like to keep it out of the dealership shop as much as possible (too expensive!).
