Reverse Lights stay on.

I have a 1995 900SE 5 speed and the reverse lights stay on. When I bought the car the owner had them disconected at the tranny sensor because he said the sensor was bad and was blowing fuses. I replaced the sensor and now the lights will not turn off. So far I haven't blown any fuses with the new sensor. What might be causing this problem? Aside from adding another washer or two I don't see any way to adjust it. I might just wire the lights up to a switch that I can tunr on when I need them.
