Start by moving the gear selector back and forth between park and 1st gear about 20-30 times. If that takes care of the problem for awhile it is an indication of that the gear selector sitch is bad.
The gear selector switch have a di electric grease inside that sometimes creates a split second glitch betwen the electric contacts. The transmission computer senses that and goes into limp home.
By moving the gear selector back and forth you can sometimes grind off the grease from the contact surfaces and make the car work for awhile.
The problem will most likely come back though.
We usually see an increase of this problem when the colder weather sets in due to that the grease gets stiffer.
The 94-95 900 had a little bit different switch from factory and if your car has not been retrofitted yet you need both a switch, bracket and bolt.
Switch 5173455 $371.00
Bracket 4625182 $40.00
Bolt 55352477$6.40
Count on a couple of hours to do this job.
You don't need to drop the transmission but need to remove the battery and some piping to get access to the switch.
