And despite what Dan said, the service should be free. They'll call you back with the number after doing a car-not-stolen check.
As far as removing the radio, just take a few clothes-hanger sized metal rods and stick them in each of the four holes in the sides of the radio. Push them in really gently until you feel a little resistance and then they stop (like 1 1/2 inches in). If you push them too hard, they'll just get jammed. Then stick your fingers inside the tape slot and wiggle the radio back and forth and pull it out. Mine was a little stubborn.
As far as the rear brake light goes, check the fuse maybe? If the fuse isn't burned, then you may need a mechanic.
Definitely look into getting a manual.
