I agree with the point about cheaper to buy a car half the years and miles. I have a 95 convertible with 105,000 miles and this year we spent about $3500 in repair cost: pulleys melted, center console switches failed, convertible top motor failed, 2 clutch cables needed replacement, both headlight mechanisms broke internally, air conditioning hose failed. In nearly 30 years of driving I had never been stranded with a car. In the past 3 year I have had to be towed 3 times - thank god for AAA.
I do like my car, but as I look forward I see the following expenses this year:
New Convertible top - $1500 (rear window separating)
Hydraulic clutch - $1200 (guess only way to fix this pathetic Saab design)
New struts & shocks - $800 (pop, clink, etc. on operation)
And I can expect another few good "out of the blue" incidences
i am getting close to the pont where it makes no sense to continue pouring money down this hole - guess my question is - will parts prices begin to fall soon as this model gets dated??
