Anders – Question re Hydraulic Conversion

I’m currently fitting a Hydraulic Clutch to my ’97 Saab 900S NA 2.3 and about to reinstall the gearbox. I decided to take a few measurements to ensure everything is OK. I have measured the travel on the slave cylinder and found it to be 22mm. On the flywheel I have a new clutch & pressure plate. I have measured the position of the pressure plate disengage fingers and calculated that they will engage the thrust bearing when it is 5 to 6mm from full retraction on the slave cylinder. As the clutch plate wears the pressure plate fingers move away from the flywheel. When they wear 5 - 6mm the slave cylinder will fully retracted and the clutch will slip. I would have been happier if had been around 10mm. I would appreciate anyone commenting. My question is, am I worrying about nothing. Thank you.
Cheers – Martin Barnes (New Zealand)
