Very interesting! I just saw pictures of the cover this morning. My car does not have one on it (and the replacement "Interstate Battery" bothers me). I sorta thought that it would have a battery cover (cold weather insulation) BUT (also bothersome) appears to have previous battery acid damage in the battery area (splatter melts in wire insulation and corrosion to some localized metal areas).
Has anyone had battery explosion issues? I ask because my brothers Jetta VR6 had a battery cover/insulator and in the middle of a hot summer he started it and POOF (like a silenced gun shot, but LOUD) the battery exploded from the side, luckily most of the acid was contained by the cover, but it was quite "shocking". I have a black car that heats up real good in the engine bay in the summer and would really like the battery cover, but not sure if I have the bladder control for another surprise battery pop! Anyone experienced anything like this with their Saab?
