replacement of the strut take time and is a totally different issue from any control arm update issues
the upper strut mount should be replaced at this time
with this design, you do not have to do any alignment work
with struts that bolt to the steering knuckle, you alignement is totally wacked when you replace the strut... so the design on the Saab is actually better from the DIYer's point of view
the 2002+ 9-5s switched to a bolt on strut as the switch to the aluminum hub/steering-knuckle (to save weight) eliminated the welding of a steel strut tube to it
the bolt on struts are very easy to change out, but the toe-in and camber will be totally uncontrolled during assembly and one needs to get to an alignment shop ASAP, otherwise tires can be destroyed in a week or two
