True, different varieties of failure of the timing belt / timing system are the Achilles heel of this engine. I have never heard this particular preventive fix, however. What I usually hear is change the belts every 30k and use the upgraded "kit" (new t-belt tensioner and pulleys) at least every 60k if not every 30k.
I've had great luck with my '94 900 S V6 to date, knock on woodgrain dash.
