Update and SES light problem

First of all, thanks to Anders the 900s passed smog with flying colors. The recommended OBD-II training process is a pain in the *ss, but after doing it and only 200 street miles all the flags were set. Of course I had no way of checking the flags after each step, so I had to go on faith for that one. Incidentally, if you get a P0134 CMP sensor code, just skip right to a new distributor and bypass the ignition parts :)


Secondly, The dreaded SES light is back on. When I first got the car it was on, but I assumed it was caused by the flakey ign. switch. I replaced the switch, and Anders cleared the code, but it has come back on after a bit more than 1000 miles. My generic OBD-II reader doesn't do SES codes, so I have no idea what it is. I'm planning on doing all the resistor/voltage tests in the manual, but with an intermittent problem like this I don't expect much success. From my limited experience with these, I assume that it isn't like the ECU, and it willnot clear the code with a battery disconnect or simply repairing the fault. Is this correct? Otherwise, if I simply disconnect the airbag control module will the light at least go out? My wife is very short and there is some concern about having these early-style airbags active with someone sitting so close to the steering wheel. I could do the factory-authorized disable trick with resistors, but I suppose disconnecting the control module would be cleaner.
