We went thru this with the ACC on our '99 9³. Cost was $1300 'cuz they had to disassemble the entire dash (2 days!) to get to the air distribution drum & replace it. I think parts were in the $300 range & the rest was labor. Some folks have said the drum is re-lube-able, but that wasn't given to us as an option. If you DIY, be careful. The dealer had to do ours twice 'cuz they broke the new drum's mounting tabs the first time.

If it's the manual controls, do a search to get info on that fix.
