You might want to think about the suspended metal...

I like convenience as much as the next person, but I'd change the oil the old fashioned route. Invariably, as the engine wears, very tiny bits of metal will appear in the oil and settle to the bottom of the pan. There will also be other solid particulates that eventually settle to the bottom of the pan. The pan is canted toward the drain plug to better remove these, and for years, the plug was magnetic to help attract more of the metal shavings.
You don't want this residue circulating arouns the journal bearings in your turbo -- especially in a diesel! -- nor do you want these sludge precursors accumulating in your Saab's engine. Saabs are very oil dependent; change it frequently, and the engine will likely outlive the frame. Neglect it, and the horror stories of sludging will be more than just expensive nightmares....
Unfortunately, the tube doesn't know where the deep side of the pan is, nor can it tell you how much gunk is left at the bottom.
Sometimes you just need to get dirty to do the best job... ;)
