Thanks for the response.
This weekend I will "check the little plastic bushing on the pivot rod", but if the play is coming from that pivot on the new updated linkage, is there a certain way to adjust the slack out (through the threaded rod and lock nut)?
I will also try to narrow where the slack is coming from by "pinning" the trans and shifter into fourth gear, and by trying to move the shifter rod (through the firewall from underneath the car), to see where if the slop is between the shifter and trans themselves.
While under the car I'd really like to get the shifting tightened up (ergo, updated linkage adjustment on itself or gearshift bushings?) before winter hits here in Chicagoland. It's been suggested that I get a "short shifter" but these cars had to shift decent out of showroom stock,....no?
