I have a 97 900 se turbo I bought last year with 54k miles. It now has 66k on it and it has run idle at about 800 rpms since I bought it. I've always thought that was a little high. I recently had the scheduled 65k tuneup--had the spark plugs changed, etc-- which didn't effect things. My car runs great, no problems since I got it. I'd talk to a SAAB mechanic. I don't have the automatic, but over 1000 rpms seems high, especially with relatively low miles.
