If I had it to do over again I would spend the extra money and get a turbo or I would sacrifice miles for turbo. I miss the boost.
The 2.3 is prone to sludge(so says the board). So you want to check oil change history or at least overall mantainance of the car.
I bought my car from a lot and it was really clean and I could tell it was well cared for even though I had no records. With a turbo you want records too since the turbo could get choked(coaked??) up with crud if not lubed well.
I agree that the 2.3 seems (on some level) to be more basic and in a way easier to fix since it has less parts. I would still go with the turbo. So you spend money on the DI, who cares.
the only other plus with the 2.3 is that the heat controlls(cables and dials) does not seem to have issues the way the ACC does with the turbo (electronics).
Go for the horse power.
