I noticed the other day that my '96 SET was making a sound that I could only identify as that of an exhaust leak. It's definitely most pronounced in the passenger side of the engine bay, but I can't quite tell if it's coming from the engine itself, something on the serpentine belt line, or exhaust. I'm doubting exhaust because I just had the system repaired about a week ago after I was rear ended (of course, something might not have been repaired properly). I also couldn't feel any leaks around the manifold, but I don't have access to a lift, so I couldn't check everywhere.
Can a balance shaft chain, timing chain, or anything else that might be about to break sound at all like an exhuast leak (like a medium-high tinny noise)? The car only has 75k mi...so should I just bring it in and have the exhaust looked at? Thanks in advance for you help!
