Make sure wires are connected to fan, then, check the cooling fan relay with a multimeter, connect between terminal 30 and ground, with ignition switch on terminal 30 should read 12 volts. Connect bridging wire between terminal 30 and 87. if the fan now works, you need a new relay.
To replace fan, remove battery, disconnect wiring to fan, unscrew 10mm bolt holding power steering line to frame on top of radiator, move hose out of the way, loosen connections for ac linefrom the radiator crossmember, unscrew fan mounting bolts and slide fan sideways to disengage from slots, lift fan out. Once out, you can remove fan motor from frame by removing nuts holding the motor in place.
On my 1989 c900 I found the fans/motors quite expensive (275.00). So I tore the motor down and found a bad bearing. I took it to a local bearing shop where they sold me a new bearing for 6.00. I put the motor back together and used a battery charger to run 12 volts to the leads and it ran like new. Consider this alternative if indeed the fan motor is bad. You have nothing to lose tearing a bad fan motor apart.
