It appears you may be talking about the tensioner pulley since you mentioned the alternator being in the way. This past summer I tried swapping out my alternator and I managed to strip the lower alternator bolt. With the top bolt out, I was able to pivot the alternator out of the way to access the bottom 3rd bolt you're talking about. Eventually I was able to remove the bracket the tensioner pulley assembly mounts to. You must first remove the tensioner pulley. Access to the alternator bolts are via the wheelwell.
Unfortunately, removing this bracket did nothing for me and I ended up putting it back.
Witht the lower alternator bolt striped, I eventually drilled off the head off the bolt. Once the head was off, the shaft spun freely. using a smaller bit, I drilled down the shaft and used a bolt extractor. I got one at Home Depot for $2. BTW, I had first tried the craftsmen extractor ($50 set) and it did nothing except creating alot of shrapnel. You have to drill the head off first. I also recently picked up a new tensioner pulley assembly from eeuroparts.com for $152. The first time I worked on my car, I pushed forward (towards firewall) on the pulley and broke the square notch on the tensioner. -Had to use visegrips to grab what was left of the tensioner to pull it back (towards front of car).
Hope that helps.
