Two week ago while I was driving in a highway jam, a warning sound started. I noticed that the radiator temp went to high. Stopped the car and found my radiator fan was dead. I had droven the car without a radiator fan for a week before I installed a new fan in it. Than one day before I put in the new fan the dreaded "Chech Engine light" came on.
I disconnected the battery when I was intallin new fan. Since then The CEL was gone. Then a week later, the CEL came back again. :( I disconnected the battery again yesterday and CEL came back again today.
I notice that when I just disconnected the battery the MPG is around 23 on highway, however, when CEL came back it drop to 18 and even worse in town arond 13.
May overheating cause some damage to the engine or it is a Oxygen sensor problem?
Any idea? Thanks.
