Hi arhsaab,
If it's been cold recently and you've been hearing crunching, this would be a normal Saab 900 - 9-3 experience. Between me and my folks, we've had 5 SAABs, 3 of which "crunch" when it's cold out (all three from the 900/9-3 line):
'95 900 SE-T (a cruncher)
'96 9000 Aero
'97 900 SE-T talladega (a cruncher)
'99 9-3 SE Cabrio (a cruncher)
'00 9-5 Aero
After driving over 10-30 minutes worth of bumps (depending on how rough your roads are and how cold it is - at close to -30, it will take a lot of bumps before it becomes quiet), the sound will stop. But will return again after the car cools. Ah well. Another quirk, right? Sounds unacceptable though on expensive cars such as these were. If the crunch won't ever quit though, even on long drives, then I guess you might have a problem. Dealer says nothing can be done for cruch sound in winter though, if cold is the only factor.
Feel better now?
:-)
Take care,
Richard
