The major issue is the teeth shearing off the balance shaft sprockets, the chunks of metal fouling the oil pump, and causing loss of oil pressure. I believe this was due to poor quality control on manufacturing of the sprockets, so some are bad and some are good.

This combined with the fact that the oil pressure switch (that makes the dash warning light come on) wears out in every one of these cars.
The part (new switch) is about $5 and takes 10 minutes to install.

You can test to see if it works by switching the ignition to the "on" position. If the oil light illuminates, the switch is good. No oil light = bad switch (or burntout light bulb, but less likely).

It seems that regular oil changes seem to minimize this problem. There are tons of NG900's here with high mileage and no problems. My take would be that if its quiet at idle, and it's made it 109K without a problem, you're probably ok. Never a bad idea to take the car to a dealer or Saab-only independent for a PPI (pre-purchase inspection).
