especially with clutch out (engaged) and deaccelerating. Once you step on the gas it all goes away. You can minimize by upshifting a gear or two, but it has gotten loud at 145k on my 94 SE, My 00 9-3 SE has it too at 62k, but is a lot quieter. I also expect it to get worse with age. Possibly a swith to the latest Saab synthetic gear oil may quiet it a bit, but it wont go away.
