The low speed setting on the fan does not work. My mechanic traced it as far as the fan assembly, which includes a resistor in the low speed circuit. The resistor seems to be mounted on a plastic rib on the fan assembly, and not sold separately.
I could have tried to replace the resistor, but that would have taken more time and some experimenting. A used fan assembly was cheap compared to a new one or trying to repair the old one. I really don't see how to replace it without disconnecting at least two hoses running on top of the plastic fan housing.
