I just installed a new clutch cable on my 94' 900S and it seems to be binding. I cannot get the new cable out of the slot on the transmission to redo it. The springed curve on the cable is coming up above the adjuster mounted to the firewall. The rubber fitting (which should be redesigned)seems to be all the way in. Is it alright to move the rubber mount that the bracket snaps onto up with the mind that the 'high' curve will decrease? The clutch is one-month old and I am wondering also if this problem will go away 'automatically'. Oh-the actual problem-the clutch now engages very high, with little space between engagement and the pedal resting point. There is a little more effort needed in the beginning 1/4 of pressing on the pedal-after that-less effort needed down to the floor. I took the car to Aamco and they told me the cable was fine-just needed a clutch. One day later, I'm in Manhattan (on my way to Columbus OH from LI) wrapping wire(duct tape and string as well-what I had in the trunk(Manhattan isn't really a DIY kind of place-yes I got stares)) below the cable end so that the clutch lever on the transmission will actually engage the clutch!

If I continue using the current setup-with the clutch pedal engaging so high, am I damaging the clutch-there isn't any slipping and I do not hear any noises that sound bad. (Well that isn't true-they seemed to have killed a mount(s) of some kind when replacing the clutch-the car creaks from the driver and passenger sides now when pressing on the brakes and sometimes in turning. If I may ask another question, what mounts are stressed during a transmission removal? Thank you very much for any help with my problem! Oh-what a fantastic board!
