Have you had the codes scanned recently? Do you know what codes are being stored since your flashing MIL incident?
I would not be so quick to chalk it up to the t-stat without pulling the codes at least. In OBDII the MIL is designed to illuminate if there is a problem that will cause the car's emissions to be in excess of 150% of the FTP standards. Can a bad t-stat cause this to happen ... sure, however your MIL was flashing at one point. A flashing MIL is telling you something else.
If the vehicle is experiencing a problem that may cause damage to the Three-Way Catalytic Converter (TWC), the MIL flashes once per second. Flashing of the MIL continues until the vehicle is out of engine speed and load conditions that could cause possible catalyst damage. The MIL remains illuminated after flashing stops.
Problems that get identified by OBDII systems will more often than not only get worse if they are not attended to. Driving around with the MIL illuminated thinking that it's not 'really' a problem and hoping it goes away by itself is usually a big mistake. OBDII in my experience is a reliable system and if you pay attention to it can save you from letting a $30 problem from turning into a $300 one. You should at the least be able to find an Auto parts store that would be happy to scan your codes for free in the hopes of selling you a part or two.
Hope that helps!
