I do not thing that they will have anything to pop the ball joint.
The tie-rod ball joint is in a fabricated arm off of the strut. It is quite wide and many tie-rod tools are too small for it. Try turning the steering full lock and see if you can get the tool on that before you leave Autozone. Pickle forks will destroy the ball joint boot.
Check that you have a wrench that will get on the ball joint nut before expending effort on the tie-rod. And you may need center popped out of the wheel and tire on the ground to get the axle shaft nut off. But if you have an assistant to stand on the brake petal, that might get the job done too. Might need engine running for vacuum boost.
Remember that the front anti sway bar does strongly resist independant strut movement. So if one front wheel is on the ground and the other is jacked up, pushing the control arms down to get the ball joint taper unseated is extremely difficult. But if you remove the sway bar link from the control arm then there is no issue.
